Don't worry, they won't make you speak French.

    The Skinny
Housed in a grand Back Bay mansion, Boston's French Library is known for its French language instruction and legendary Bastille Day party. But its offerings also include extensive programs covering France, French culture and the French-speaking world.

    What's There
In addition to its 20,000 volume collection of French-language books, books-on-tape and videos, the library subscribes to virtually every French magazine and even posts wire-service news from France in the lobby. You'll also find art exhibits, music (including a lunchtime concert series), a Saturday children's story hour, cooking classes, tastings, lectures and book discussion groups--all with a French twist.

The library offers "Ciné-Cult" French film screenings, Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm, September through June. A five-film pass cost $25 ($15 for members and students) and can be purchased at the Ciné-Cult entrance on Thursdays and Fridays or any time during regular library hours; no individual tickets will be sold. Most movies are subtitled. Call for the full schedule.
